Hazel Smith Memorial Scholarship for Commuter Students

The Hazel H Smith Memorial Scholarship for Commuter Students is available to a full-time BGSU student not living in the residence halls. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Hazel H Smith, a former BGSU student who was instrumental in the evolution of an area that would be known as the Off-Campus Student Center. Mrs. Smith, a pioneer in the field of commuter centers, became the first full-time administrator of the program in 1967 and served in this capacity until shorty before her death in 1986. On April 14, 1989, the program was named in her honor. In 2002, the program moved to its new location in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union and was renamed Off-Campus Student Services.
